Week 2(9nov-15nov)
I will be posting on the digestive system.
DIGESTION IS IMPORTANT!!!
When you eat foods, they are not in the small form that the body can use as nourishment. Food and drinks must be changed into smaller pieces of nutrients before they can be absorbed into the blood and carried to cells throughout the body. Digestion is the process by which food and drinks are broken down into their smallest pieces so the body can use them to build and nourish cells and to provide energy.
1)Mouth
The start of the process calleed digestion is the mouth. The digestive process begins in the mouth. Food is partly broken down by chewing and by the chemical action of salivary enzymes(saliva, these enzymes are produced by the salivary glands and break down starches into smaller molecules).
2)The esophagus or gullet
After being chewed and swallowed, the food enters the gullet. The gullet is a long tube that is from the mouth to the stomach. It uses wave-like muscle movements to force food from the throat into the stomach. This muscle movement gives us the ability to eat or drink even when we're upside-down!
3)Stomach
It is a large sack of acids that is able to break down food into smaller substances.
4)Small intestines
In the small intestine, bile (produced in the liver and stored in the gall bladder), and other digestive enzymes produced by the inner wall of the small intestine help in the breakdown of food.
5)Large intestines
Water is removed.
6)Anus
Wasted is discharged.
